Kudos to Team India

Team India won the ICC cricket world cup-2011 after 28 years in great style at Wankhade,Mumbai .It was an all round performance from every member of the team. Dhoni made a captain's knock of 91 not out at the most appropriate time.As usual he scored the winning runs with a sixer and the entire nation erupted in joy .It was good to see players like Harbhajan Singh,Yuvaraj and Tendulkar in tears after India won the match.Especially  Tendulkar, a man who has seen all the pinnacles of cricket had to wait for 20 long years to realise his dream, to be a member of the world cup winning team.Quite appropriatley Tendulkar was carried by his team mates on their shoulders during the victory lap.An emotional Tendulkar was seen waving to the stands.Virat Kholy aptly said " this man was carrying the burden of Indian cricket in his shoulders for 20 long years.Now it is our turn to carry him on our shoulders".Even before the tournament started the hype generated by the media was India should win the cup as "send off gift" to Gary Kristen and for Tendulkar ,for whom this could be his last World cup. Team India lived up to the hype. Yuvaraj singh was rightly given the "Man of the tournament " award by the ICC special award jury . Skipper Dhoni perhaps reserved his best for the grand finale and was awarded the "Man of the match ". But all said and done MSD is the lucky mascot of Indian Cricket .

During the captaincy of MSD India has reached the peak in all three formats of the game .MSD is rightly the lucky mascot of Indian cricket. I don't think it would be easy for  future captains of India to replicate this feat of the Ranchi guy so easily .

Led India to its second win in ICC ODI world cup championship, in 2011 after 28 years. 

 

It would be the dream of any captain of any national cricket team to reach the number one position in all 3 formats of the game during his capataincy. MSD was fortunate enough to achieve this rare feat .MSD 's achievements does not stop with this .

He led the Chennai Super kings to win the IPL trophy in the year 2010.

He also lead Chennai Super Kings to win the Champions Trophy in 2010 .

He got the ICC ODI player of the year award in 2008 and 2009 .

He was the highest ranked ODI batsmen in ICC ranking in 2010.

He was named as captain of Wisden's first-ever Dream Test XI Team in 2009 .

He was named as the captain of ICC World Test and ICC ODI teams for 2009.

He topped the list of world’s top 10 earning cricketers compiled by Forbes.

I think Dhoni was able to achieve this rare feat because he has a cool head and is known as 'Captain cool ' in the cricket circles.May Team India earn much more laurels in the years to come .
