Right to surf

Finland is the first nation in world to make Boradband connection to every house a legal right. This is akin to the other legal rights such as healthcare and education.Interestingly the Finnish government has guaranteed 100 Mbps internet speeds to all its citizen by 2015.Finland government took this radical step because already 97 % of the Finns have broadband connection.Other developed nations would take a cue from this and make access to broadband connection a leagl right soon. This is an interesting concept. But Asian countries understandably have other priorities. One sincerely hopes Asain countries atleast make schemes to guarantee the right to potable water and electricity to every house in the country.Without guaranteeing power supply to every household countries like India can not even dream of guaranteeing boradband access to all
her citizens.I really do not know how many of our citizens are aware of the RTI (Right to information) Act in our country.Nonetheless concepts like this would be welcomed by every one, guaging by the penetration of mobile phones in all countries inspite of inadequacies in basic amenities.
