Hapless Ansari's unkind 'Anarchist' remark

Rajya sabha Chairman Mr.Hamid Ansari has called the parliamentarians a 'Federation of Anarchists'.  As expected promptly Arun Jaitley has termed the chairman's remark as unparliamentary and demanded its withdrawal by Mr.Ansari. Anarchism is  political theory which favours abolition of governments and an anarchist is a person who advocates  anarchism. while I agree with Jaitley that Ansari has over reacted to the behaviour of Rajya Sabha MP's ,it must be agreed our MP's are an unruly lot. Most of the time the speaker of Lok sabha  and the Rajya sabha chairman are on their feet pleading with members to resume seat with an 'aap baittiye ' plea . It must be borne in mind before his 'anarchist' remark Ansari said "Every single rule in the rule book; every single etiquette is being violated," .It is true . On the spur of the moment an hapless Ansari made the 'Anarchist' remark . Though it was uncalled for and  if I am to borrow a Shakespearean phrase it was the most 'unkindest cut of all'. It is not unusual for Ansari to get in to hapless situations and act on the spur of the moment. Ansari adjourning the inconclusive debate on Lokpal bill at midnight is another instance of his impulsive or instinctive decisions .But in the case of Lokpal bill adjournment it was unlikely that it was not prompted by the UPA government . Because  at that time Ansari was also nurturing a desire to become the congress candidate for the Presidential poll .

Mr.Ansari never minced words in expressing his displeasure over the behaviour of MP's. He has on an earlier occasion called the behaviour of MP's as 'Collective hooliganism'. He wanted  to rein in unruly MP's by 'naming and shaming' unruly MP's .But political parties did not agree to this suggestion of Ansari .Sitram Yetchuri felt this could be misused especially among smaller party MP's. Ansari even suggested automatic suspension of members who enter the well of the house .Even this suggestion of Ansari was rejected by our political bosses. Neither the parties rein in their unruly members nor they allow the presiding officers to do it . There were instances of members engaged in fist fights in parliament. But they were never suspended .

The business hours lost in parliament due to disruptions is growing year after year . Our MP's should be ashamed over this . I am afraid if they continue to behave like this ,one day the public would turn as anarchists. The ethos displayed by our legislators must be worthy of emulation by the public and youth. Our MP's should not behave in such a way that gives an impression that rules and conventions are superfluous for them . Let the rulers and our political bosses bear in mind anarchists are not born, but they are made .
