The tourism development Corporation of India has come out with an Ad to develop tourism in India to mark World tourism day with the theme "Tourism and Bio diversity ". The campaign has the slogan " Bio diversity is our greatest treasure ".But the directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity has committed a faux pas by showing an African Elephant in the Ad instead of an Indian tusker.Jairam Ramesh ,the Environment Minister as usual was quick to point out this goof up to the Tourism Minister.Probably the DAVP officials never knew about the existence of two different types of elephants in the two continents. It is believed originally there were 350 different species of elephants. Now elephant population can be seen only in two continents Africa and Asia . The African elephant has two sub categories called Savanna elephant and forest elephant. The Asian elephant has 3 sub species called Indian elephant,Sumerian elephant and Sri Lankan elephant.
