2010 - an year of scams

We would bid farewell to the year 2010 in a couple of days. The year 2010 saw a scams galore . We saw people who mattered looting the nation. Here are two latest additions to end the year in great style.A Malayalam TV channel has reported that former Chief Justice K.G.Balakrishnan's son in law Sreenijan has amassed properties worth over 7 crores in various districts of Kerala.Former Supreme court judge V.R.Krishna Iyer has demanded a judicial probe in to it. The revelations indicate the daughter and son in law of the former chief justice have amassed wealth under dubious circumstances due to their links with the chief justice.Justice Balakrishnan is currently the Chairman of the National Human Rights commision. Krishna Iyer was right in saying that there should be a Performance Commission to inquire in to charges and grievances against Judicial corruption .But what is the guarantee those in charge of those investigations would be above board?until we recently we believed Supreme court judges and chief justice of the apex court of the country would be of impeccable integrity .But the revelations are to the contrary. Congress is again embarassed in AP where the former CM Rossiah is facing an inquiry by the Anti corruption bureau for alleged handing over of a notified prime piece of land to a private party.Seems more and more scams are unearthed in all pats of the country in the latter half of the year. Those in authority should remember there is growing intolerance among the common public for the delayed action or inaction against corruption. Hope the dawn of the year 2011 will altleast see all those guilty of corruption are severly punished and censured.Let such action be a deterrent to others.
