United we rise,divided we fall

The maxim has proved its efficacy . I am refering to the decision of the Defence ministry to send back the Sri Lankan airmen ,getting training at Chennai's Tambaram airbase. For the first time ,all political parties without exception in Tamilnadu were united in making their displeasure known in no uncertain terms, over the government's decision to give training to SL airmen at Chennai .No doubt it is an insult to the Tamil sentiments . Central government could guage the popular public exasperation over the continous disregard by the central government on Tamil sentiments on the Srilankan issue .For some strange reasons union government used a different yardstick for the Tamil cause ,compared to Mujibur Rahman's Bangladesh cause. There is a popular notion among Tamils, had Indira Gandhi been the Indian PM, the Tamils struggle for a separate nation would have seen the light.

The division among political parties in TN emboldened the union government to take a different line and Tamil sentiments were not given the due regard it demanded. Continous electoral debacles for the congress in TN would have made them realise the irrevocable damage they are causing to Tamil sentiments .With elections to parliament round the corner in 2014, the union government might have hastened to appease the offended Tamil sentiment. They have already learnt a bitter lesson in AP for offending local sentiments in the recently held elections.Even amidst reports of Jagan amassing wealth and his arrest, people of AP have rejected the congress for deriding the local sentiments and their politics of convenience .Whatever wealth Jagan amassed would have been amassed by his late father YSR.When Jagan did not fall in line ,congress used its dirty tricks to make him submissive. Needless to say it boomeranged .

There is a lesson for TN political parties to learn from this .When it comes to the welfare of the state and its people, they should bury their petty politics and stand united. This is applicable to everyone, all walks of life and all professions and at all times. The power of the fist is immense, when compared to the power of individual fingers.
