I was shocked to read a report that the state of the art Anna Centenary Library,in Chennai was used for a wedding reception by the authorities concerned .This is highly reprehensible.I have already written a post on this on 3rd Nov 2011 titled 'An appeal to politicians -please introspect'. The information department has let out the library premises for a wedding reception.I am at a loss to understand, how authorities could be so insensitive to public outcry .Such pachydermal actions could make them unpopular .The bias is so axiomatic and sickening. It is heartening to note that Justice Iqbal and Justice Sivaganam,in response to advocate Wilson's petition has passed strictures on the government. The court has already stayed the government's move to convert the library in to a children's hospital. The court has also ordered to maintain the library in good condition and not to withdraw any existing amenities. Most importantly the court ordered to cancel bookings made for wedding and refund the amount to the concerned. It was indeed comforting to learn that the court has agreed to dispose the pending PIL soon ,to put a stop to such unsavoury incidents. One would appreciate if the CM,in deference to popular public opinion, comes out with a statement that the ACL would continue to function in its present premises.Such a statement would only make her in the eyes of dispassionate public as a true-to-life ,matter-of-fact,pragmatic leader, which she really is.If she does that it will be a win-win situation for all .
